Our Team » Charles D. Vaughan
Charles D. Vaughan is President, Chief Retirement and Investment Strategist of THE RETIREMENT SOURCE®, He began his career in the investment business in 1960 as a security analyst trainee for a local brokerage firm while attending the University of Cincinnati. He received a BA degree in economics in 1962 and became a Registered Representative of the New York Stock Exchange and continued evening school graduate studies in finance.
Having begun during this period when investment choices were limited and trading costs were fixed, he has held onto the belief throughout his 50-year career that business should be built on long-term client relationships, superior research and client service. In 1987, he left the world of big wirehouse stockbrokers, founded The Retirement Source® in 1988 and began developing the S-T-A-R-S System for Retirement SuccessSM in response to client desires for advice and service that went far beyond the traditional “money only” planning and investment approach. The S-T-A-R-S System for Retirement SuccessSM is based on Mr. Vaughan’s philosophy that virtually all financial planning is ultimately about retirement and estate planning. It represents a return to an earlier values system that shifts the focus away from strictly investment issues to seeking the highest level of control over quality of life for the family and achieving a feeling of success and personal fulfillment. The S-T-A-R-S System for Retirement SuccessSM has been presented in dozens of workshops and applied as a working system of financial control for many clients over 23 years. He continues to tweak the system as clients and seminar attendees provide feedback and conditions change. He continues to develop tools, techniques and booklets called the BetterWay Series™ to help clients achieve the goals they seek. Charles D. Vaughan was the author of the “Investments” column for The Cincinnati Business Courier from its founding in May 1984 through May 1991. In all he has written nearly 300 columns and articles and conducted dozens of classes on various financial topics including 12 courses at the University of Cincinnati – Osher Lifetime Learning Institute. He also authored the booklet, Your Family Legacy: Personal Values-Based Estate Planning. Family & Hobbies: Charles and his wife Linda have been married for 49 years and have two grown sons and three grand-daughters. Charles and Linda enjoy singing in the choir at church, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Credentials:
